Weekly E.coli Results

The recent rain, while needed, has given us our first E.coli sample of the year above the level set by the State of Michigan to be considered safe for contact. The location was the sampling point at the Rolland Road bridge. This is upstream of the Village, but is a place we test in order to see water quality entering the community and for the benefit of our residents along the river.

With a reading of over 300, the water near the bridge is safe for fishing, boating, and wading. Contact above the waist is not recommended. The Village partners with the Central Michigan District Health Department in this effort, and also receives data from the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe for the School Road bridge. Working together, we are able to document water quality coming into the community, in the lake, and downstream from the community.
